A Study to Find if the Microbe Environment of the Intestines Predicts Response to the Ketogenic Diet

About this study

The purpose of this study is to see if the microbial environment of the intestines can predict the success of the ketogenic diet for children with medically unmanageable epilepsy.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • All Children admitted to the Pediatric EMU service at Saint Mary’s Hospital for dietary initiation, as per routine protocol
  • Willing/able to provide a stool sample at initial clinic visit when Ketogenic diet admission is scheduled and comply with all follow-up sample requests
