Characteristics of Headache in Children with Epilepsy

About this study

Our aims of the protocol in this case series study are to review characteristics of headache (i.e. type, timing relative to seizure event, frequency, duration, laterality, quality) and the efficacy of typical therapeutic strategies.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Children and teens with epilepsy with a developmental age >5 years
  • willing to consent

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Intracranial space-occupying lesion known to cause headache – i.e. hydrocephalus, brain tumor, infection.
  • Vascular malformation
  • VP-shunt
