About this study
The overall main purpose of this investigation is to characterize the electromechanical pathophysiology of the skeletal muscle in individuals with glucocorticoid-induced myopathy.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
- 20 years in age or older
- Any form of systemic idiopathic vasulitis
- Currently on prednisone treatment for treatment of vasculitis
- Clinically defined muscle weakness
Exclusion Criteria:
- Other major co-morbidity
- Presently on anticoagulant therapy
- Unable to complete the experimental procedures due to physical or mental limitations
- History of central or peripheral nerve disorder
- History of myopathy or musculoskeletal pathology
- History of spine or peripheral nerve surgery
- Bleeding disorders
- Currently pregnant – pregnancy will be determined through a pregnancy test
