About this study
The purpose of this study is to determine if Inpatient Stress Hyperglycemia is an indicator of future risk of developing type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. Inclusion Criteria:
- Age 18 years and older, elevated blood sugar, HbA1c measured on admission.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Age less than 18
- Steroid induced hyperglycemia
- Current pregnancy
- Recent hospitalization within the last 6 months
- Terminal illness with expected life expectancy of less than 12 months
