Impact of Hospital Ward Rounds Geography on Communication between Members of the Healthcare Team

About this study

The goal of this project is to understand the relationship between time spent in the various geographic locations of hospital ward rounds (i.e. conference room, hallway, patient room) and communication between healthcare providers and patients.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age >18
  • Hospitalized on 1 of 4 general medical services at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary's Campus.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Non-English speaking
  • Cognitive impairment
