About this study
The objective of this proposal is to use kinematic-driven modeling approach to identify the risk of impingement during activities of daily living and ambulation with a wheelchair and gait aids across levels of functional ambulation independence.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Individuals who have a history of spinal cord injury
- Age 18-60 at time of enrollment
- Independently mobile enough to participate in the study
- Active shoulder range of motion within limits needed for the tasks performed during the study
Exclusion Criteria:
- Surgery or significant injury to the shoulder(s) of interest (such as dislocation, fracture or full rotator cuff tear) in which return to pre-injury functional status was NOT attained
- Peripheral nerve impairment of the upper extremity being tested
- Evidence of denervation of any scapular muscles
- Shoulder instability on the upper extremity to be tested
- Allergy to medical grade adhesive tape (used to secure sensors to skin)
