About this study
The purpose of this study is to determine the reliability and validity of an instrument that was specifically designed to measure hospitalized patients’ observation-based assessments of internal medicine residents and to determine associations between hospitalized patients’ assessments and validated measures of resident professionalism including knowledge, clinical performance (mini-CEX and multi-source assessments), and conscientious behaviors (evaluation completion and conference attendance).
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inlcusion Criteria
- Hospitalized on a general medicine inpatient teaching service at Mayo Clinic Hospital
Exclusion Criteria
- Unable to identify their ‘primary resident’ both by name and photograph
- Non-English-speaking
- Prisoners
- Has cognitive impairment
