About this study

The specific purpose of this study is to compare the characteristics of patients at Mayo Clinic Rochester who received a living donor kidney transplant here preemptively versus those who dialyzed either less than 1 year or more than 1 year. 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients who underwent or are undergoing kidney transplantation at Mayo Clinic during the time of the study

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Pediatric patients
  • Patients who underwent simultaneous combined organ transplantation
  • Patients transplanted outside Mayo facilities
  • Patients who documented a “NO” for the research authorization
