About this study
The purpose of this study is to determine pre-surgical and post-surgical changes in gait stability and free-living activity. The information collected in this study will be used to guide surgical interventions and achieve better functional outcomes.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Patients receiving surgery for spinal deformity, such as kyphosis, scoliosis and spondylolisthesis with accompanying sagittal plane imbalance.
- Adolescent and adult patients between the ages of 10 and 65, with a sagittal imbalance greater than 20 mm will be recruited.
- Subjects must be able to ambulate without the use of assistive devices over a 10 meter walkway.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Any patients demonstrating
- Parkinsonian symptoms
- Progressive neurologic disorder
- Myelopathy
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Vision deficits not correctable with lenses
- Other symptomatic lower limb disability
