A Study of Changes in Renal Biomarkers after Exposure to Contrast Associated with CT scan

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to see how the contrast affects kidney function. Kidney function will be measured by testing several blood and urine samples that you provide before and after the CT scan.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients who are scheduled to undergo a contrast-enhanced or non-contrast abdominal, head, thoracic, or pelvic CT scan as part of their routine care and have a serum creatinine above the reference range (at least 1.3 mg/dL for males, 1/1 mg/dL for females).

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients who have a pre-existing renal dialysis requirement or if they received iodinated contrast from a separate imaging procedure within 7 days of the ordered CT scan.
