Analysis of the Proteome of PKD-ELVs in Polycystic Kidney Disease and Controls

About this study

This research study is about developing a rapid, accurate urine test to help diagnose and perhaps monitor ADPKD (Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:          

CASES: <40 yrs old, genotyped with PKD1

CONTROLS: <40 yrs old, matched by age and gender (<5yrs)

 

Exclusion Criteria:

CASES: Unable to provide informed consent, eGFR <60ml/min/1.73², frank hematuria, albuminuria >200mg/24hr, Diabetes Mellitus, smoking and positive Gram stain. If hypertension is present it will be permissible to have blood pressure controlled..

 

CONTROLS: Hypertension, frank hematuria, active urine infection, albuminuria >200mg/24hrs, Diabetes Mellitus, current smoking, evidence of another chronic kidney disease.
