Assessment of Body Volume (total and regional) in Association with Metabolic Risk Factors for Heart Disease

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if your body volume (total and regional) is associated with metabolic risk factors for heart disease.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:       

  • Subjects will be recruited at the Cardiovascular Health Clinic, Mayo Clinic Rochester
  • Age: 18-70 yrs old
  • Both females and males

Exclusion Criteria:      

  • Significant left ventricular dysfunction (EF< 30%)
  • Recent heart failure decompensation
  • End-stage liver or renal disease     
  • Myxedema                                     
  • Pregnant Women
  • Patients with implanted pacemaker or defibrillator
  • Patients with orthopedic metal implants
  • Cancer or expected survival < 2 years
  • Previous organ transplantation
  • Patients not giving authorization to use their medical record and blood samples for research.
