- Observational study — observes people and measures outcomes without affecting results.

About this study
The purpose of this study is to determine the upper limb movement and control strategies for older adults with a rotator cuff tear and to compare how they may be different from measures from older adults without a rotator cuff tear.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
Participants with Rotator Cuff Tear
- Have a confirmed full-thickness or major (i.e. tear >50% tendon thickness) partial-thickness tear on the right (dominant) side
Participants without Rotator Cuff Tear
- Must be right hand dominant
Exclusion Criteria:
- Must not have any underlying condition that could be exacerbated by physical testing (e.g. COPD)
- No musculoskeletal injuries, neuromuscular disorders (e.g. stroke, Parkinson’s disease)
- Have not experienced shoulder pain in the 3 months prior to study participation
