Prevalence of Barrett’s Esophagitis in Erosive Esophagitis

About this study

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux among patients with esophagitis using long term proton-pump-inhibitor use.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  1. Adults ages 18-90
  2. LA grade B, C, or D esophagitis on EGD performed at Mayo Clinic
  3. Repeat EGD preformed within 6 months at the Mayo Clinic

Exclusion Criteria:

  1. Technically limited EGD
  2. Evidence of achalasia or aperisalsis on high resolution esophageal manometry
  3. Previous history of upper gastrointestinal surgery (e.g. fundoplication, bariatric surgery
