Reliability of Various Methods to Test Isometric Strength of Cervical Musculature

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare various muscle testing techniques using a hand held dynamometer and a custom made testing device for assessing cervical musculature.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • No current cervical pain or condition that would compromise the ability to perform a maximal isometric contraction of the cervical musculature
  • No pain with screening evaluation consisting of active flexion, extension, side bending and negative Spurling’s compression test

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Current neck pain or cervical pathology
