A Study to Determine if the Age of Venous Thrombus can be Determined using Newer Ultrasound Imaging Methods

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate strain imaging, 3-D volume ultrasonography and elastic properties of thrombus to determine if these properties can be used to evaluate the age of thrombus. 
 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • The inclusion criteria are patients with venous insufficiency, varicose veins or lower extremity edema with planned unilateral radiofrequency or laser great saphenous vein ablation.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • The exclusion criteria are one or more of the following:
    • Patients who do not accept to participate in research studies 
    • Bilateral GSV ablation 
    • Less than 18 years old or pregnancy.
