Overview
Tab Title Description
Study type
ObservationalDescribes the nature of a clinical study. Types include:
- Observational study — observes people and measures outcomes without affecting results.
- Interventional study (clinical trial) — studies new tests, treatments, drugs, surgical procedures or devices.

About this study
The purpose of the study is to find specific and sensitive RNA markers that not only describe the underlying inflammatory process, but can help direct therapy by identifying the likely causative pathogen in cases of infection.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Patients aged 18 or older
- Patients able to give consent (or their legal representative)
- Paitents amendable to safe obtain CSF sampling safely via an existing ventricular drains (EVD) placed by standard of care (SOC), or via SOC LP (no supratentorial lesion causing increased intracranial pressure)
- No localized infection at the site of needle insertion
- Hemodynamically stable to lay flat for the procedure
Exclusion Criteria:
