About this study
The purpose of this study is to improve dignity and life quality for patients and their families, and to effectively counter burnout and vulnerability to adverse mental experience in the highly stressful environment of end-of-life care.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Professional caregivers who provide hospice care, including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other members of the multidisciplinary hospice team willing to participate in the study.
- Adult hospice patients and caregivers willing to participate in the study.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Non-English speaking.
- Severe physical and/or cognitive impairments that would preclude participation in reading, hearing, and reflecting on bedside poetry.
