About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the reliability of a mobile app to assess balance in athletes during a concussion assessment

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria: - Phase One (a):

  • Male and female participants, ages 20-50 years old.
  • No diagnosed concussion within the past year. 
  • A maximum of a single diagnosed concussion.

Exclusionary Criteria - Phase One (a):

  • Any medical restriction or injury that would limit the ability to perform a balance screen.

Inclusion Criteria: - Phase One (b):

  • Male Junior A hockey players between the ages of 16-21.
    • Age range of study participants can be as young as 16 but no older than 21 a (USA Junior Hockey Program age limit).  
  • Medically cleared to participate at the time of enrollment.
  • No current concussion symptoms or current injuries restricting full participation in games and practices.

Exclusionary Criteria - Phase One (b):

  • Current medical restriction for any injury or concussion related symptoms.
  • Any injury that would limit the ablity to perform a balance screen.
