About this study
The purpose of this study is to use samples from multiple patients to validate and provide detailed mapping of food to identify allergen epitopes. This will provide crucial data to the study of the molecular basis of food allergy.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
A patient will be considered for recruitment if:
- Patient allergy to peanuts has been at one point in their life diagnosed and clinically verified by a medical professional.
- Patient has experienced a clear reaction to peanuts over the past 2 years or has shown a clinical response to peanuts by prick test or oral food challenge in the past 2 years.
- Patient is at least 4 years old or over.
- Patient can donate at least 8ml of blood.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Patient is under 4 years old.
- Patient has participated as some point in a clinical trial involving immunotherapy of any kind for their allergy or has received immunotherapy for their allergy.
- Patient is incapable of donating at least 8ml of blood.
- To ensure the safety of the research lab personal who will be handling blood, samples will be anonymously tested for HIV and HBV. Patients who will not consent to this may not be considered for participation.
