Overview

About this study

The goal of the study is to create a database of clinical information and a repository of biological specimens for genetic, molecular and microbiological research to better understand hereditary cancer and help develop new therapies and preventive strategies.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients, ages 18 years - 80.
  • Individuals diagnosed with incident cancer in the following areas:colorectal/gastrointestinal, breast, ovarian, endometrial, prostate/genitourinary, pancreas, cholangiocarcinoma, melanoma, CNS/brain, head/neck, sarcoma, myeloma, or lung.
  • Individuals presenting to Mayo Clinic for clinical management/treatment.
  • Patients receiving genetic testing as described above.
  • Venipuncture is feasible (health, access and/or tolerability) for requested blood sample(s).
  • Individuals have agreed to participate and signed the study informed consent form.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals who do not meet study inclusion criteria.
  • Individuals who have not agreed to participate and have not signed the study consent form.
  • Patients who have had prior germline genetic testing involving a 40+ gene panel within the last 24 months either at Mayo Clinic or have results available for review at the time of the appointment.
  • Those with stage 0 or in-situ cancers.
  • Patients who are not in genetic testing clinical service line.
