A Study to Evaluate Nicotine Concentrations in Regular Hookah Smokers

About this study

The primary purpose of this study is to assess serum nicotine and cotinine concentrations at baseline and every 30 minutes during a 2-hour shisha smoking session among regular hookah users.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Smokers of Hookah (shisha tobacco).
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to participate fully in all aspects of the study.
  • Understand and verbally consent to participate in the study.
  • Has the ability to have 25 cc of blood drawn over the course of 2 hours through a catheter.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Study subjects not meeting the Inclusion Criteria above.
