Evaluation of Injuries Sustained During Half- and Full Marathon Training and Association of Baseline Hip Examination Findings

About this study

This is a study of the incidence and type of low back and lower extremity injuries for runners who begin to train for a half- or full marathon.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Subjects will be 18 to 60 year of age who are beginning to train for a half- or full marathon
  • Subjects may be experienced runners or those just starting to run.
  • The race must be no less than 4 months from the subject’s enrollment in the study for the full marathon and 3 months for the half marathon.
  • All subjects must be able to use email.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Any low back or lower extremity surgery within the last 12 months. 
  • Subjects cannot plan to train for the race by only walking without any running.
