A Study Using Patient's Short Grit Scale Score to Predict Inpatient Physical Therapy

About this study

The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the whether or not a preoperative Short Grit Scale Score is associated with maximum distance walked following total knee or hip arthroplasty.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults > 18 years old.
  • Underwent total hip or total knee arthroplasty.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Patients with revision total knee or hip arthroplasty.
  • Iinfection.
  • Extensor tendon ruptures.
  • Intraoperative complications precluding patient to be fully weight bearing.
  • Trauma
  • Medical conditions preventing participation in physical therapy.
