A Study to Determine Arterial Occlusion Pressure Using Real-time Ultrasonography

About this study

The purpose of this study is to utilize direct visualization of proximal arterial occlusion via point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS), with an eventual goal of developing a simple, inexpensive model for both assessment and instruction of hemorrhage control.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Consent to participate.
  • Member of Rochester Fire Department, Rochester Police Department or Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Refusal of consent.
  • Age ≤ 18 or ≥ 50 years old.
  • Possible pregnancy.
  • Screening baseline HR > 120.
  • Screening baseline SBP > 180.
  • Known vascular disease.
  • Known cardiac or cerebrovascular disease.
  • Anticoagulation.
  • Prior skeletal or vascular injury to left upper or left lower limb.
  • Infection involving left upper or left lower limb.
