Preoperative Evaluation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea at Home

About this study

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate feasibility of obtaining at home remote pre-operative testing for obstructive sleep apnea prior to elective non-cardiac surgery. Additionally, to determine if obstructive sleep apnea can be screened for during a remote preoperative evaluation.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • ≥ 18 years of age
  • Patients participating in the virtual preoperative evaluation process at Mayo Clinic
  • Undergoing virtual preoperative evaluation
  • Surgery date ≥ 2 weeks from participation
  • STOPBANG score > 4.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients less than age 18 years.
  • Subjects who are not able to provide consent.
  • Patients without the ability to connect to Wi-Fi to transmit home sleep study data.
