Long-Term Cardiopulmonary Outcomes in Adult Pectus Excavatum Following the Nuss Procedure

About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of surgical repair on the cardiopulmonary function of pectus excavatum patients. Also, to demonstrate that there is an additional improvement in the cardiopulmonary function of adult pectus excavatum patients after the removal of the intrathoracic bars.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult patients ( ≥ 18 years old) with pectus excavatum who underwent minimally invasive repair and who also underwent pre- and post-operative CPET will be eligible for this project.

Exclusion Criteria:  

  • Patients with other conditions (cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal diseases) that could affect the results of CPET will be excluded.
