Mechanisms of Insulin Resistance in Man

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to examine how, when and why does the liver release excess glucose into the blood stream during the day and at night in people with type 2 diabetes and whether certain antidiabetic medications can modulate some of the causal factors related to high blood sugar in order to develop rational approaches for and management of type 2 diabetes.  More than 400 million people in the world have either type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. The diagnostic hallmark of these conditions is elevated blood sugar levels first thing in the morning.
