Before-After Analysis Assessing the Immediate Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on Ocular Parameters

About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the immediate effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on the ocular variables of patients receiving the treatment inside the multi-place hyperbaric chambers at the department of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Mayo Clinic, Rochester (MN).

The screening process will be done by informing the participants of inclusion and exclusion criteria and they will be considered as eligible through self-identification. No tests or further examinations will be done for screening and no data will be gathered from the participants in the screening process.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age more than 18-years-old.
  • Any male or female patient who is receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy at the Hyperbaric and Altitude medicine at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN Mayo Clinic.
  • Must be able to provide informed consent.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Critically ill patients who cannot perform the tests during receiving the treatment.
  • Patients who are receiving the HBOT due to an emergent cause.
  • Patients who are receiving the HBOT due to acute traumatic incidents.
