Smartphone-based Migraine Interactive Care Plan Effect in Primary Care

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if migraine patients engaged with the MICP will report improved migraine outcomes, increased satisfaction, and lower disability while reducing care-team workload and downstream utilization of face-to-face visits in primary care, neurology, and the emergency department.  

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients will be eligible for participation if they are age 18 or older and have an ICD-10 diagnosis of migraine including all subtypes.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Patients will be excluded if they are less than 18 years old
  • Pregnant or lactating, diagnosed with dementia.
  • Cognitive impairment or any physical condition that limits ability to use a mobile device.
  • Living with uncontrolled mental illness or active drug or alcohol abuse.
  • Residing in a skilled nursing facility, enrolled in hospice or identified as end-of-life.
  • Not willing to obtain a Patient Online Services account, or not owners of a compatible mobile device.
  • Potential participants will be excluded if they are unable to provide consent, speak or read English, or self-manage their medications and care.
