A Study Measuring the Effectiveness of Simulated Preparation for Commonly Encountered Emotional, Cultural and Medical Difficulties in Global Health Experiences

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if SUGAR simulated training is effective in preparing individuals for the emotional, cultural and medical difficulties often encountered during participation in global health experiences (GHE). More specifically, we will be comparing the responses and effectiveness between participants of various specialty backgrounds and at various stages of training.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Mayo Clinic staff or trainees; participation in SUGAR training, Mayo approved MIHP trip

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Non-Mayo Clinic staff or trainee, no participation in SUGAR training, non-Mayo approved GHE
