Collection of Discarded Cerebrospinal Fluid for Research Purposes

About this study

The purpose of this study is to collect and store cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)from patients with normal CSF.  This stored CSF will be used in the future as a culture media to better understand how therapeutic cells delivered into the CSF will behave. 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age >18 years old, men & women
  • Undergoing lumbar puncture for clinical purposes (e.g. normal pressure hydrocephalus or pseudotumor cerebri)
  • High pre-test probability of normal CSF parameters (glucose, protein, WBC, RBCs)
  • CSF protein <60 mg/dL
  • CSF glucose, nucleated cells and red blood cells within normal limits
  • All other CSF testing within normal limits

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Pregnancy
