About this study
This study is being done to learn more about the development of the auditory skills in children with bilateral cochlear implants.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
Children (4 to 12 years old) with bilateral cochlear implants. Children need to have received their simultaenous or sequential bilateral cochlear implants either before 12 months of age or between 12 to 36 months of age.
All children will have spoken American English as their native language.
Two groups of children (ages 4 to 12 years old): one group who was bilaterally implanted before 12 months of age and one group who was implanted between 12 to 36 months of age.
Exclusion Criteria:
Children with a diagnosis of developmental delay.
Children whos primary language is not American English.
