Creation of PLACENTA/Serum Repository Database: Autoimmunity from Mother To Baby Study

About this study

The purpose of the study is to learn more about autoimmunity and potential mother to baby transmission of pathogenic antibodies. The collected research samples from children will be frozen and stored at the Mayo Clinic and will be used for future studies of autoimmune diseases.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Participants (mothers only) would provide blood samples at 1 month prior to delivery, time of delivery, and will provide a sample at 1 month after delivery. 

This part of the study is optional.

  • Participants (mothers only) who are willing can provide an additional blood sample every two weeks for 12 weeks after one month post-delivery or they can provide one or as many of the every two week samples as they choose to do so.   
  • The baby serum collection would be within 3 days of delivery and at 1 thru 3 months after delivery.
