A Study to Validate Bowel Diaries in Healthy Participants and Participants with Fecal Incontinence

About this study

This study will validate a bowel diary to be used for a forthcoming study comparing effectiveness of biofeedback, sacral nerve stimulation, and injectable bulking agents for the treatment of fecal incontinence (FI).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Fecal incontinence 

  1. Age 18 years and older
  2. Have episodes of fecal incontinence at least once a week
  3. Are able to read and write in the English language
  4. Willing and able to comply with study procedures

Healthy controls

  1. Age 18 years and older
  2. Do not experience fecal incontinence
  3. Are able to read and write in the English language
  4. Willing and able to comply with study procedures
