Comparison of MRI and CT for Evaluation of the Pelvis

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if a single ZTE MR sequence can replace the need for a CT of the pelvis to avoid an additional exam and avoid the radiation to these patients from CT.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Eligible patients will be >18 years of age undergoing MR arthrogram who either have had a CT of the pelvis with femoracetabular impingement protocol within the last month, or have the exam scheduled in the coming month.

Consent will be obtained which will include the addition of a two extra noncontrast MRI sequence to their clinical MR arthrogram performed that day.

Those agreeing to participate will have the ZTE MRI sequence performed which will add approximately 5 minutes to their clinical exam and a non-fat saturated, noncontrast T2-weighted exam of both knees together that will require approximately 2 minutes.
