Study to Determine Effectiveness of Emotional Disclosure Intervention with Patients and Caregivers

About this study

The purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility and acceptability among caregivers and patients of an emotional disclosure intervention that includes writing exercises on a secure electronic platform and speaking exercises that are recorded onto a secure electronic platform; to examine the effectiveness of three different prompts to elicit an emotional response in the exercise; and to examine preliminary effects of writing exercises vs. verbal exercises on physical health and psychosocial health.
 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients or caregivers >18 years.
  • Access to a telephone and computer/tablet.
  • Ability to hear instructions over a telephone.
  • Ability to write and speak in English.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • None.
