A Study to Establish Post-Op Opioid Requirements after Hand Soft Tissue Procedures

About this study

The purpose of this study is to access the effectiveness of over-the-counter analgesics in the management of post-operative pain after hand soft tissue surgical procedures.  These procedures would include carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger release, and first compartment releases in DeQuervain's syndrome.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals who are 20 years of age and older.
  • Patients who are coming in for their first post-operative appointment after a soft tissue hand procedure.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Individuals who are under 20 years of age.
  • Those who have not had carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger releases and first compartment releases in DeQuervain’s syndrome.
  • No narcotic use in the last six months.
  • Individuals who have had previous carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger release, and DeQuervain’s syndrome surgeries completed by Dr. Jose Ortiz, Dr. Guilherme Giusti, and Dr. Aundrea Rainville.
