A Study to Improve the Quality of Dementia Care

About this study

The purpose of this study is to change the way we care for those with advanced dementia in memory care units. Through integrated technologies and innovative architectural build, the specific aims are to reduce symptom burden, psychotropic medication use, dementia related behaviors, caregiver burden and health care utilization while improving sleep, mood, and function for those who are currently residing in memory care units.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult patients, male or female.
  • Adult patients age 65 years or older.
  • All patients currently residing at Arbor Terrace memory care unit will be eligible for enrollment. All sub-types of pre-existing dementia  diagnosis, degree and severity are eligible for study qualification.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Hospice patients with less than 30 days of life expectancy at the time of enrollment.
