Using Point-of-Care Ultrasound for Bedside Confirmation of Intrauterine Contraception

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of bedside ultrasound for confirmation of intrauterine contraception (IUC) compared to formal radiology evaluation (standard of care) when IUC location is in question.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Primary care patient at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
  • Age ≥ 18 years.
  • IUC placement in question (i.e., unable to confirm IUC placement with clinical exam/string check).

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Declination of study participation.
  • Age < 18 years.
