Melanoma Care Barriers in United States Latinx Population

About this study

The purpose of this study is to provide qualitative analysis of barriers to melanoma care in the United States Latinx Population.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Mayo Clinic patient.
  • ≥ 18 years of age. 
  • Self-identifies as Hispanic.
  • Personal history of invasive melanoma.
  • Hispanic will be defined as an inclusive term defined as having roots from Latin America.  This includes but is not limited to:
    • Other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race;
    • Puerto Rican; OR
    • Cuban;
    • Mexican;
    • Chicano(a);
    • Latinx, Latino(a).

Community Patient Recruitment

  • ≥ 18 years of age. 
  • Self-identifies as Hispanic and is obtaining healthcare from an Arizona community clinic.
  • Hispanic will be defined as an inclusive term defined as having roots from Latin America.  This includes but is not limited to:
    • Other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race;
    • Puerto Rican; OR
    • Cuban;
    • Mexican;
    • Chicano(a);
    • Latinx, Latino(a).

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • < 18 years of age.
