A Study of Adult Research Cohort with IBD

Overview

About this study

The overarching goal of the Study of a Prospective Research Cohort with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SPARC IBD) is to create a longitudinally followed, well phenotyped cohort of patients with IBD who have linked clinical data, self-reported outcome data, and biosamples that can be used for clinical and translational research that will lead to precision medicine strategies and new therapeutic targets that will improve the quality of life of patients with IBD.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult patients, age 18 years or older.
  • Patients with IBD [CD, UC, or IBD unspecified (previously referred to as indeterminate colitis)], who are cared for at any of the participating sites.
  • Diagnosis of IBD must be established on the basis of standard clinical, radiographic, endoscopic, and histologic criteria as described below.
  • Patients may be either newly diagnosed or those with established disease.
  • Pregnant women will be included as study procedures will not change their routine care and are not expected to affect the condition of the pregnant woman or fetus.

Exclusion Criteria:

Patients will be excluded if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Inability to provide informed consent.
  • Patients presenting for a one time consultation.
  • Students or employees who are directly supervised by any of the investigators.
  • Inability to provide an email address.
