Novel Remote Monitoring-enabled Home-Based Prehabilitation for Lung Transplant Candidates

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate patient acceptance to participate, retention, feasibility of randomization, and acceptability and compliance with a novel 12-week, home-based, multimodal prehabilitation program in waitlisted lung transplant candidates.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Aged 18 to 65 years.
  • Undergoing care for lung failure and/or waitlisted for lung transplantation.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Waitlisted for multi-organ transplantation.
  • Dependent on high-flow oxygen supplementation to undertake activities of daily living.
  • Non-English speaker and unable to interact with the exercise prescription mobile application.
  • Any physical impairment that precludes completing physical assessment and/or exercise interventions.
  • Participation within a pulmonary rehabilitation program within 6-months prior to study commencement.
  • Unwilling or unable to give written informed consent.
