Quality of Life in Patients with Acoustic Neuromas

Acoustic neuromas (also known as vestibular schwannomas) are benign slow growing tumors that arise from the vestibular portion of the eighth cranial nerve. Current treatment options include microsurgery, stereotactic radiosurgery and observation, using a “wait-and-scan” approach. The primary objective of this study is to compare long-term quality of life outcomes between treatments for sporadic acoustic neuromas.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the benefit of using intravenous fluorescein sodium (FS) and YELLOW 560 nm microscope filter (YE560) during surgery for vestibular schwannomas (VS), Meningioma, Head and Neck Paraganglioma, or Head and Neck Schwannoma and to determine the optimum FS dose and timing to be used with the YE560 device.

A Study to Evaluate the Use of AR-42 (Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor) in the Treatment of Vestibular Schwannoma and Meningioma

The purpose of this study is to assess the use of AR-42 in adult patients undergoing NF2-tumor removal. AR-42 is a small molecule which crosses the blood brain barrier (BBB) in rodents, but the investigators are not certain yet if it will penetrate human Vestibular Schwannoma. Meningiomas are outside the BBB, but also seem to be unusually resistant to all current medical treatments.

Cerebrospinal Fluid and Tumor Samples from Patients with Vestibular Schwannomas

The goal of this study is to correlate protein content in vestibular schwannomas and cerebrospinal fluid to patient outcomes, imaging findings, and other relevant clinical endpoints in patients who presented with both this tumor type and hydrocephalus.
