Efficacy in iNPH Shunting (PENS) Trial
Rochester, MN
The Placebo-Controlled Efficacy in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH) Shunting (PENS) trial is an investigation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt surgery to study the shunt effectiveness in iNPH patients.

Clinical Outcomes Following Shunting for Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH)
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to collect data to objectively monitor the clinical outcomes of patients following CSF shunting for the treatment of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus in order to optimize the surgical care of patients with this disease.

A Study to Develop a Horizontal Axial Movement Test for Use Before and After Shunt Treatments in Patients who have Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
Jacksonville, FL
The purpose of this study is to develop a test for axial movements in the horizontal position, then determine if it improves after the diagnostic tap test and can be used as a prognostic indicator for shunt surgery.

Prognostic value of Aβ Imaging in NPH Prior to Shunt Placement
Jacksonville, FL
In this pilot study the investigators shall prospectively in a blinded fashion evaluate with AB PET and CSF AB42 and tTau or pTau in patients committed to shunt surgery and then investigate the relationship of these biomarkers with outcome on gait, cognition and urinary control improvement in the short term (3 months) and long term (1 year). The imaging agent will be provided by AVID.
Furthermore the study will standardize imaging studies using florbetapir F 18 PET to provide information on amyloid burden.

Cerebral Spinal Fluid Evaluation in Individuals Who Have Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (INPH)
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to further characterize the serum and Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) biomarker profile of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus, both before and after VP shunt placement, and help differentiate this profile from Alzheimer’s disease.
-
Collection of Discarded Cerebrospinal Fluid for Research Purposes
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to collect and store cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)from patients with normal CSF. This stored CSF will be used in the future as a culture media to better understand how therapeutic cells delivered into the CSF will behave.
-
A Study to Evaluate MR of CSF Dynamics
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to evaluate changes in CSF dynamics (e.g., velocity, flow rate) between patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus and healthy controls, as well as patients with other dementia disorders.
