Ultrasound-Guided Core Needle Biopsy to Stage Urothelial Carcinoma of the Bladder

The purpose of this study is to use upper gastro-intestinal flexible echoendoscopes in radical cystectomy specimens to determine if EUS technology can improve the staging of Urothelial Carcinoma of the Bladder (UCB). In this study, radical cystectomy specimens with urothelial carcinoma will be interrogated with echoendoscopes and EUS-guided core needle biopsies ex vivo immediately after the bladder is removed, ensuring no risk to the patient.

The primary hypotheses are that the TULSA-Procedure is safe and effective treatment of intermediate grade prostate cancer over 2 years. The primary endpoint is defined as the proportion of patients who maintain urinary continence and erectile potency. The effectiveness co-primary endpoint is defined as the proportion of patients free from treatment failure.
