While great strides have been made in melanoma diagnosis and treatment, many challenges remain.

The Melanoma and Skin Cancer Research Program at Mayo Clinic was developed as a multidisciplinary approach to improve diagnosis and care, with a special focus on patients with recurrent and metastatic disease — the most difficult melanoma cases.

The program is led by physicians, scientists and nurses from numerous specialties working together to develop new therapies, offer individualized treatment plans and manage side effects, all of which have led to improved outcomes for patients with melanoma.
