A Study Comparing the Brain Scans of People Who Do and Do Not Exercise

About this study

The purpose of this study is to see if regular exercise has an impact on blood flow to the brain.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Healthy young and older adults
  • No active neurological or psychiatric conditions
  • No cognitive complaints
  • No psychoactive medications
  • No history or evidence of hepatic, renal, or hematological disease
  • No peripheral vascular disease
  • No stroke/neurovascular disease
  • No diabetes
  • No dyslipoproteinemia
  • No hypertension
  • Body mass index must be  ≤ 35 kg/m2.

 

Exclusion Criteria

  • any medical contraindications to MRI scanning such as a cardiac pacemaker, or the presence of intraocular or intracranial metallic objects.
