A Study of Parents Experience and Satisfaction with Outpatient Pediatric Surgery

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the experience of parents whose child underwent an outpatient surgical procedure and determine the need to develop an educational tool to improve their satisfaction with the surgery processes.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Parents/caregivers of tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy patients 18 years of age and younger
    • This study will have an outpatient and an inpatient group
    • The outpatient group will include children 4 years of age and older who are discharged from the hospital the same day they had surgery
    • The inpatient group will include all children 3 years of age and younger who are required to be admitted to the hospital the night of surgery

 

Exclusion Criteria

  • Pediatric patients undergoing any other surgery that is not a tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy procedure
  • Patients older than 18 who are undergoing tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy
