A Study to Understand the Differences of Walking on a Treadmill and Overground in Patients with Parkinson's Disease

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare treadmill walking and over ground walking gait characteristics in people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Subjects must have a medical diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease or be a healthy age-comparable adult.
Subjects must be capable of ambulating independently for 12 minutes to be included in the study.

Exclusion Criteria:

Subjects who have impaired cognition as assessed by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.
Subjects who are unable to ambulate continuously for 12 minutes.
Subjects who have a past history of neurologic conditions other than Parkinson’s disease.
Subjects who have any orthopedic, cardiovascular, pulmonary, or visual condition affecting the subject’s ability to walk.
